The results showed that Rhodotorula mucilaginosa polysaccharides exhibit good adsorption performance for both Cu2+ and Cd2+, with maximum adsorption amounts of mg/g and mg/g, respectively. In terms of optimizing the adsorption conditions, the optimal conditions were determined to be pH of , adsorbent concentration of 10 mg/L, temperature of 25℃, and adsorption time of 60min through single-factor experiments and response surface methodology. The kinetic process of Cu2+ and Cd2+ adsorption by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa polysaccharides was found to conform to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. By using FTIR, SEM, and BET characterization methods, the surface structure characteristics and micro-morphology of Cu2+ and Cd2+ adsorption by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa polysaccharides were obtained.
