In the past a few decades, many countries have experienced the rapid progress of urbanization. Though the expansion of cities bring many benefits to people, we cannot overlook the accompanying problems, especially those confronting youngsters.
To begin with, the flooding of a growing number of young people makes cities increasingly crowded and stressful. It is a pity that when the development of infrastructure fails to satisfy the needs of growing population, here comes the fierce competition of resources, including houses, hospitals and schools. Undoubtedly, the recent arrivals, namely youngsters, who are at the early stage of career building or job hunting, will be under mounting pressure. For some, it is even unaffordable to catch cold and stay at home for a couple of days, due to the expensive fees of seeing a doctor and the cut of bonus by the company.
Secondly, the large population also means the ferocious competition in job market. Undoubtedly, there are more job opportunities in cities, the location of various companies of different industries and scales. However, except for the lucky period of fast economic development, the supply of positions usually cannot meet the swift growing demands. Consequently, numerous youngsters driven by ambition and desire for a higher living standards will be disappointed. They have to either choose a less satisfying offer or endure the pressure of being jobless. The competition continues after one is successfully recruited. Surrounded by outstanding colleagues, young people need to strive for excellence in case that they have no chance of promotion or even be marginalized and then replaced soon.
To cope with problems mentioned above, young people have two solutions: departure or self improvement. The one with stronger background and better experience stands more chances to achieve success in career and hence has more incomes. From the perspective of governments, measures can be taken to develop cities of small or medium size, so as to retain youngsters with job opportunities in their hometown and alleviate the pressure of big cities. In a word, governments need to address the fundamental cause of problem: population explosion.

In modern society, people do not need to live near the place where they live, as they can work through various communication tools and travel with convenient transport. Though with a few minor drawbacks, the free option of where to live and work realized by advancement of communication and transportation has brought many benefits.
Admittedly, we cannot overlook the potential problems associated with the freedom of choosing where to live. Nowadays, many people would like to live in suburban areas or satellite cities and drive to their office in the downtown in exchange of the peaceful environment and low housing price. However, with a growing number of people taking this option, it is more likely for the city to suffer from traffic congestion, high energy consumption and air pollution. In addition, for employees who work at home through Internet, the lack of face-to-face communication may cause poor cooperation and low commitment.
However, all these problems can be avoided or solved and people benefit a lot from the free option of where to live and work. By working at home through Internet, people have more time flexibility. There is plenty of time for them to take good care of family members, like preparing nutritious breakfast and playing games with young children. It also saves people’s time wasted on daily commute between home and office. Moreover, the convenient transportation makes it possible for people to change their career and place of residence several times during their life. This kind of lifestyle satisfies people’s curiosity of the world and enables them to constantly enrich experience.
To sum up, there are minor disadvantages for people to freely opt for where to live and work, but the advantages are in general far more obvious.

Thanks to the improvement of living standards and medical treatment, people today not only live longer but also have a better health condition. As for how to live happily after retirement, people have divergent opinions. Many senior citizens claim they would rather continue to work.
Admittedly, old people are supposed to get retired at certain age due to various reasons. What comes first is their health that to a large extent decides their work efficiency and effectiveness. Unavoidably, it is much easier for old people to suffer from fatigue and diseases. However, owing to their years of services, the company has to pay higher salaries, which is not cost effective. Moreover, the retirement of old people provides job opportunities for youngsters and curbs the growth of unemployment rate.
However, there are many old people in good physical condition expecting to work continuously at their old age. For them, the life after retirement is boring and meaningless. They are not satisfied with simply reading books, walking dogs, and gossiping with neighbors. The primary purpose for them to work is actually not for money but for a life full of sense of achievement and an opportunity to maintain the connection with society. They deserve job offers that allow them to keep making contribution to society. Compared with young people, they have more valuable work experience and commitment.
To sum up, although there are reasons for senior citizens to retire at certain age, it is much more meaningful for those who are healthy and willing to work continuously to keep working.

By studying or working at home, people save much time on traffic, especially for those who have to commute during rush hours to the office or travel long distance to the classroom. Also, there is much time flexibility and people are free to arrange their schedule. More importantly, the amount of knowledge and information available online is so huge that can hardly be contained in the largest library in the world, and the content is so updated that can hardly be taught in any university at such a rate.
In summary, though some of the content online may consume users much time and lower their efficiency of work and study at home, the advantages of Internet are far more obvious for people with strong self-control.
