雅思口语话题遗忘
Describe a time you forgot something important.
You should say:
what it was
when you forgot it
what was the consequence
and explain why it was important to you.
Generally I have a very good memory, you might even call it photographic. Im very good at remembering random facts, so Im a useful person to have around at a pub quiz. However, once in a while my memory can let me down and one of the most important times was when I forgot my girlfriends birthday.
It was a few years ago, when we were both at university. I woke up one morning and sent her a message, as usual, but she didnt reply. I kept trying to contact her again and again, but she still wouldnt respond. I began to get worried, so I went to where she was staying and her friends told me she didnt want to see me. Suddenly it hit me! It had completely slipped my mind that it was her birthday. We had only been going out for a few months and we were both busy with our studies so I guess it just hadnt really occurred to me.


Needless to say she was not a happy bunny. I went out and bought her a big bunch of flowers and some chocolates and begged her to forgive me. I was in the dog house for a few days, but eventually the dust settled and things got back to normal.
In the grand scheme of things it wasnt very important, we were both young and in the early stages of our relationship. But it meant a lot to my girlfriend and the whole incident made me more diligent when it comes to our relationship. Ive certainly never forgotten a birthday since!
2雅思口语匆忙随时话题
1. When was the last time you did something in a hurry?
Um when was it?...Let me have a thinkI guess it was probably um a few weeks ago, when I was on holiday, and I had booked a taxi to arrive at the place where I was staying, at about noon-ish, and I still had some clearing up to do, you know, I didnt want to leave the place in a mess. So yeah, I was basically in a hurry tidying everything up and getting all my things packed before the taxi arrived.

Yeah I do, cos I really dont like things to hang over me, you know, its just not a nice feeling when youve got stuff to do hanging at the back of your mind. So I like to get stuff done as quickly as I can,but saying that, I still want to do it well of course! I mean, Im not gonna do something haphazardly just to get it done quickly, I still wanna make sure I do it well!

3. What kinds of things do you never do in a hurry?
Its an interesting question!... Ive never really thought about that one! What kinds of things will I never do in a hurry?...um I suppose things I would never do in a hurry would be important things, like coursework which counts towards my final grade, and what else?...Im kind of hard pressed to think! Um oh yeah, getting to the airport to catch a flight! You know, Ill always give myself lots of time to get there, even if it means I arrive at the airport several hours in advance, cos it just gives me peace of mind. I mean, if you miss a flight, then your holidays probably gone down the drain, so it can be pretty disastrous!

4. Why do people make mistakes more easily when they are in a hurry?


Um well thinking about it, I suppose its simply because when people are in a hurry, theyre not really thinking clearly. You know, their minds kind of um.. how can I put it I guess you could say flustered, thinking about lots of things at the same time, and not really being focused. So in that state of mind, I think youd agree its easy to overlook things, especially small details, which will likely lead to mistakes being made!

1. Do you have a favourite teacher?
Um Yeah, I suppose I do, but its actually kind of hard to pick out a favourite because Ive been really lucky with all my teachers. You know, theyve been really great, at least most of them anyway, but I guess my favourite teacher would have to be my Chinese language teacher, because she was incredible. I mean, the amount of effort she put into her teaching, and her attention to detail, were just amazing. And not only that, but she also showed a genuine care for all of us, which left a really deep impression on me. So yeah, out of all my teachers, Id say she was probably my favourite.

I guess. umfirst of all, teachers who are passionate about their subject, because you know, if they show enthusiasm for what theyre teaching, Im much more likely to get interested in that subject and do well in it. And as well as this, I also like teachers that are supportive andwhats the . So in other words, teachers that show patience and understanding, and are there for you if you need help.

Um. I guess the best way to answer this would be to think of some of the good teachers Ive had at school and university. So please hang on just a second while I have a quick think about it..! Ok, well the good teachers Ive had have shown a genuine care for their students. You know, they genuinely want their students to learn and develop. Its not just simply a job to them. So yeah I think thats the most important thing taking their job seriously and really caring about their students development.

1. Do you like making things by hand?

Yeah I do. I find it quite fun making stuff by hand. You know, it kind of brings a certain amount of 〔sat〕isfaction once youve finished it, and you think "Wow! I made that!' So yeah, I enjoy making things quite a lot.

No, I never did, which I suppose is a bit of a pity, cos I imagine they would have been quite fun. But my classes were unfortunately limited to just the typical subjects that most schools offer, like Maths, Physics, Geography, those kinds of things.

Yeah, Id say they are, because we have certain handicrafts which how can I put it,which are closely tied with our culture, such as paper cutting, which goes back hundreds of years in China, if not thousands. But I suppose its also fair to say that handicrafts have become a bit less popular in modern times, simply because of all the technology thats crept into our lives!

Yeah Id say they definitely should, because first of all its fun, and children tend to learn more when theyre having fun. And I think it would also make them appreciate things more. You know, when you realize all the effort that goes into making something, you kind of appreciate it more. So yeah, I think its very beneficial for children to learn more about handicrafts.
