Title: A Supplier Selection Method Based on Ideal Decision Making and Grey Relational Analysis under Interval Conditions
Abstract:
Supplier selection is a critical process in supply chain management. The selection process involves identifying the best supplier among a pool of potential candidates who can meet the needs of a firm and its customers. In this paper, we proposed a supplier selection method based on ideal decision making and grey relational analysis under interval conditions. This method is designed to help firms select the optimal supplier with a comprehensive evaluation of various factors.
Introduction:
The supplier selection process is critical in the success of any organization. It involves careful evaluation of potential suppliers in terms of various factors such as price, quality, delivery capacity, reliability, and flexibility. In recent years, supplier selection has become more complex due to the rise of global competition, economic uncertainties and rapid technological advancements. These factors have made it challenging and time-consuming for firms to choose the best supplier. Therefore, there is a need for more efficient and effective supplier selection methods.
Methodology:
The proposed supplier selection method is based on two techniques, ideal decision making and grey relational analysis. Ideal decision making is a mathematical optimization method that involves identifying the ideal solutions for various criteria. Grey relational analysis, on the other hand, is a method based on grey system theory that evaluates the degree of correlation between two sets of data. The proposed method combines these two techniques to create an efficient and effective supplier selection process.
The first step of the proposed method is to identify the evaluation criteria for supplier selection. The criteria used in the selection process vary from one industry to another, but some common criteria include price, quality, delivery capacity, reliability, and flexibility. The next step is to determine the weight of each criterion, taking into account its relative importance to the organization.
In the third step, the ideal solution for each criterion is identified. This is done by setting a maximum and minimum value for each criterion based on the organization's needs. Once the ideal solution is identified, the distance between each supplier's performance and the ideal solution is calculated. This distance is then normalized to a range of 0 to 1, with 1 indicating the best performance.
Finally, grey relational analysis is used to determine the degree of correlation between each supplier's performance and the ideal solution. The grey relational coefficient is calculated by comparing the performance of each supplier with the ideal solution of each criterion. The suppliers with the highest grey relational coefficient values are considered the best candidates for selection.
Conclusion:
The proposed supplier selection method based on ideal decision making and grey relational analysis under interval conditions is an efficient and effective way to select the optimal supplier for an organization. This method combines the advantages of two techniques, and provides a comprehensive evaluation of various factors. With the help of this method, firms can make better-informed decisions and improve their supply chain management performance.
