The origin of the Thanksgiving
This American tradition started in 1621 before the United States of America was was a huge celebration for a hard-earned harvest in the first year after the first group of immigrants arrived in the New World.
The custom of the Thanksgiving
Family feast is an important tradition during Thanksgiving. The entire family sits at the table during dinner and offer prayer to the Lord Almighty for his continuous grace. It is also a time for relatives living in different places e together and celebrate.
The traditional stuffed turkey adorns every dinner table during the feast. Pumpkin pie, Cranberry sauce, Corns are some of the dishes cooked everywhere to mark the day. Though historians don’t have an evidence to prove that turkey was eaten during the first Thanksgiving dinner, the thanksgiving celebration will be plete without it.
Table layout is also very unique. Housewives place a large pumpkin in the middle of the table , around a pile of some corn, apple and dried fruit. Sometimes the people also put the apple or the pumpkin hollowed out, and in their middle filled with the dried fruit of no shell or light the eat and recall the past gladly,until the last candle burns out.
