pair n. 一双、一对
(1)a pair of作主语时,谓语动词用单数形式,two pairs of作主语时,谓语动词用复数形式。
eg.①A pair of glasses is on the desk.②Two pairs of glasses is on the desk.
a pair of表示“一对、一双、一副”等“两个”含义的概念,后面一般接名词的复数形式 pair of shoes
a pair of还表示由两部分构成的一件物品,意为“一条、一把、一副” pair of trousers 一条裤子
(2)in pair/in pairs 成对的、成双的
students are practising the conversation in pair.
……each student raises ten yuan for charity..
raise v.“筹集、募集” raise……for“为……筹集”
should raise money for charity.
“举起、抬起” can raise your hand.
“种植、饲养、供养” farmer raises cows and corn.
several adj.&pron. 几个的、几个
(1)形容词,“几个的、数个的”,相当于some或few
have several pets.
(2)代词,“几个”,常作主语或宾语,可与of连用
of us like dancing.
Three and a half years. 三年半。
(1)half,复数形式halves two halves 两半 a half 一半
(2)半小时 half an hour
(3)数词+and+a half+复数名词=数词+复数名词+and+a half
two and a half days=two days and a half.
one+and+a half+复数名词=one+单数名词+and+a half
one and a half kilos=one kilo and a half
collect 、搜集
collect ,如集邮、收集钱币等
collection collector
eg.①Mary is interested in coins collections.
②The boy likes collecting stamps in his spare time.
③His father is a kite collector.
My mom says I have to stop,because we've ran out of room to store them.
(1)run out of“用完”,接宾语(主语为人)
ran out of all the water.
run out“用完、耗尽”,不接宾语,主语喂时间、金钱
