Design Study on Xi'an High-rise Residential External
Morphology within the Chinese Traditional Context

ABSTRACT
In recent years, high-rise housing has been a hot topic, and its size and other functional aspects of the theoretical literature is mature. With the improvement of people's living standards, the requirements of the residents of high-rise residential external morphology are more and more attentioned and improved. The high-rise residential is necessary to meet the basic needs of contemporary people's life , but also to meet people's spiritual pursuit. The context of globalization and the traditional context of the crisis collide. After more than ten years' hotness in the European and international style residential , the Chinese people begin to think about building their own house. Like Chen Zhongshi's book < Bailuyuan ), it's "to find his own sentences." In the city's high-rise residential, we need to explore how to design a house in the context of the traditional Chinese context.
Collected information, I found: its essence of the high-rise residential cultural characteristics is closely related to the traditional context. The building external morphology is the carrier of the architectural and cultural information. Therefore, the understanding of the traditional context of its external morphology are needed to study ,just including: how to face the traditional, how to draw nutrients from the traditional to extract the building morpheme, and how to integrate them into the modernist architecture. The all is the topic that I interested in.
In this thesis, a wide range of high-rise residential is the research topic, and its external morphology is the research object.
