Abstract: American short story writer, O. Henry, his The Last Leaf describes the sharing weal and woe of love story between three poor artists, who met by chance at the bottom of American society, and shaping a moving image about an old artist, called Behrman, who has a spirit of self-sacrifice to help people and gives hopes to others. The novel uses the method of “tearful smile” to soothe the trauma of small potatoes who lived in the frustrated life, meanwhile, using O. Henry’s own unique ending style, to shock the readers’ mind. This paper also analyzes his unique writing style.

摘要:美国短篇小说作家欧·亨利的《最后一片叶子》叙述了美国社会底层三个萍水相逢、饥寒交迫的穷画家之间患难与共的感情故事,塑造了贝尔曼这个舍己为人,给他人希望的老画家的动人形象。小说以“含泪的微笑”来抚慰生活失意的小人物的心灵创伤,同时,以欧·亨利自己所擅长的独特结尾方式,让读者的心灵为之震撼。本文也同时分析了其独特的写作风格。
