He died from rheumatic(风湿)heart disease in 1796 ( 37).
He was a poetic genius. He had an aptitude for Scottish folk songs.
Burns was nurtured by the Scottish cultural tradition. The majority of his poems were written in the Scottish dialect.
He is known as the “National Poet of Scotland”.
