1. There are various reasons why people write poetry. 人们写诗有许多原因。
【句式分析】本句为主从复合句。why people write poetry作reasons的定语。
(1) reason作先行词时,如果在定语从句中作原因状语,引导词用why或for which; 如果在定语从句中作主语或宾语,引导词用that或which。
①Do you believe the reason why/for which he was late?
②Do you believe the reason that/which he explained to us at the meeting?
③Did you hear the reason (that) he gave for being late?
(2) reason后接表语从句时,表语从句的引导词用that,而不用because。
①The reason why we don’t trust him is that he often lies.
②The reason why he didn't go with us is that there was something wrong with his bike.
【学以致用】
①The reason_______ he was absent was_______ he was ill.
②One reason ________ he told me for his being late is _______ he didn’t catch the early bus.
单句改错。
③The reason that he wants to go to America for further study is why he has relatives there.
④One reason why he told me for his being late is because he didn't catch the early bus.

【句式分析】they are easy to learn and recite中的不定式要用主动形式表被动意义。
①不定式作定语与被修饰的名词构成动宾关系,并且不定式的逻辑主语是句子的主语时,不定式用主动形式表示被动意义;但如果不定式的逻辑主语不是句子的主语时,需用被动形式。
