Abstract
Objective: The mon clinical manifestations of advanced esophageal cancer are dysphagia , fullness in chest and tabula, belching, vomiting mucus,poor appetite, ect. This type of patients were given with “hua ye tang” combined with chemotherapy (PTX+DDP regimen) to observe the effect of the treatment with integrated traditional chinese and western medicine on esophageal cancer. Methods: Selected 40 patients with mid and late stage esophageal cancer were randomly divided into two groups, 20 patients in treatment group were administered with “hua ye tang”(one time per day) and chemotherapy (PTX+DDP regimen), 20 in control group with chemotherapy alone. Every 3 weeks as a cycle,after 2 consecutive chemotherapy cycles, changes pared in the tumor size, clinical symptoms, living conditions (KPS、weight)and side-effect between both the effect of evaluation score to quantify, then the difference was analyzed between both groups according to these indicators. Results: This study showed that the treatment group were higher than the control group on the effective and stability aspect, but through the statistics processing, there were non-significance difference of two groups (P >). The integration of the treatment group before and after, was notable different in statistics (P<); while the difference of the control group was not statistically signifi- cant (P>). After treatment, the difference between both groups on the symptom score was statistically significant (P<). It showed that the treatment group was more effective than the control group.
