ii Abstract The Radio Coverage Area Prediction is a primary function in Radio Management Information System Based on GIS. It directly influences the process of base station’s location selected, the patibility analysis and the spectrum resource management carried on. The Radio Coverage Area Prediction Algorithm’s studying and realizing can reduce much manual participation in prediction, save time and putation precision. Now there is much Radio Coverage Area Prediction theoretic study at home and abroad. But it still has lots of questions to solve from the theory to concrete algorithm realization. In this article we will discuss Radio Coverage Area Prediction Algorithm’s realization and application in Radio Management Information System Based on GIS. Specifically as follows: (1) According to Radio Coverage Area Prediction theory, it has brought forward construct function about transmission path. And based on this function’s approximately convergent characteristic, it has designed Local Convergence Algorithm to reduce operation times and shorten the prediction time. (2) It has built terrain and culture database, saved terrain and culture data into database after its discretization, and provided the measure to judge terrain and environment types and get correlative parameters about them. (3) It has built model base in dynamic-link library to save models in order to meet user’s requirement on expending prediction models. We can add or modify models by updating model base.(4)Using Local Convergence Algorithm about construct function, It has designed application plan to realize Radio Coverage Area Prediction Algorithm on GIS. (5) paring prediction result in experimentation with the measured data from user, it has verified the correctness and the validity of algorithm realization plan.
