《喜福会》中母爱主题的文化阐释 Abstract The Joy Luck Club iswritten byAmy Tan ,afamous Chinese American writer. Inthe novel ,she presents the stories offour Chinese- immigrant women and their American-born daughters. Each ofthe four Chinese women has her own view ofthe world based onher experiences inChina and wants toshare her experiences with her daughter ,and they never cease totry tobuild abridge over the cultural differences and conflicts between them and their daughters with their maternal love ofvarious forms. Atfirst the daughters don ’t understand their mothers and the Chinese culture that their mothers represent ,but astime elapses ,the daughters begin tounderstand and appreciate their mothers' past and accept their mothers inthe end. Infact ,itisthe maternal love the Joy Luck Club mothers extend totheir daughters that finally makes their daughters understand them and the Chinese culture that they represent. Inthis sense ,the maternal love not only symbolizes Chinese culture ,but more importantly serves asabridge over the mothers and daughters , and over Chinese culture and American culture.
