Thoughts from your Pastor We May Be Certain of Our Harvest This year we have been reminded in so many ways of just how uncertain the harvest is. There has been too much water in so many regions. First, too much to get the crop in, then too much later--flooding of fields, not once but repeatedly, drowning out the crops. There has also been too little water in so many regions. Drought conditions in many regions brought death to young crops, indeed to all vegetation, leading to stress and loss in many herds of livestock. And recent isolated thunderstorms have left crops battered by hail and flattened by strong winds in our immediate region. The weeks to harvest are certainly counting down, but the uncertainty surrounding the harvest remains. Yet, as every producer will tell you, this year is like every year before, and every year e. Crops are subject to many threats between planting and harvest, and the harvest is always uncertain. In the Bible, however, we read about a harvest that is certain; in fact, once the sowing plete the harvest cannot be deterred or disrupted. Paul writes about it in Galatians 6:7-8: “ Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. ” There are just two ways to live life asa human being.
