1841年2月26日 关天培血战虎门
1841年2月26日，民族英雄关天培率部在虎门与英国侵略者激战时壮烈牺牲。
关天培，江苏淮安府山阳县人，1834年调任广东水师提督。这时候，外国侵略者看到清政府腐朽昏庸，千方百计企图打开中国的大门，扩大对中国的侵略。关天培到任以后，亲自查看海防要塞，决定增修和加强虎门炮台，并加紧操练军队。1839年，林则徐任钦差大臣，到广东禁烟。关天培成为林则徐的得力助手。他一面积极协助林则徐收缴外商鸦片，一面认真布置海防，督造排桩，设置铁链，准备抵御侵略。
1840年7月，英水手在尖沙嘴一带横行霸道，杀死一无辜村民，林则徐提出抗议，要英国驻华商务监督义律交出凶手，义律不但不交，反而乘机扩大侵略，接连几次向广东沿海武装进犯。关天培身先士卒，率领将士严阵以待，英勇抵抗，屡次打败英军，使他们的侵略行动未能得逞。
