Abstract: A dynamic model for an industrial FCC reactor was developed in order to
predict steady state operation conditions and responses to perturbations. Dynamic
modelling has been performed to predict open loop responses. A new kinetic scheme for
the catalytic cracking reaction, consisting of five lumped species, has been proposed.
Steady state predictions are in agreement with industrial operating data. Dynamic
responses are analysed in order to clarify the very complex and highly interacting nature
of the dynamics of the Reactor - Regenerator system of the FCC unit.
