尽管按效率分配可以促进生产力的发展，缓和社会主要矛盾，但其不能解决收入的两极分化问题。两极分化同社会主义的本质相违背。如果社会产生两极分化，就将从根本上阻碍社会主义国家人民当家作主，从而最终又影响到生产力的发展。因此必须以注重结果公平作为收入分配的补偿，弥补初次分配过程中的缺陷，缩小收入分配的差距。新型个人收入分配应让收入与投入要素挂钩，以劳动收入为主，遏制收入差距悬殊。
实现共同富裕和社会公平是建设和谐社会和维护社会稳定的两根支柱。理论和实践均证明: 贫富差距是影响社会和谐稳定的重要因素。所以，我们应该从贫富差距扩大的根源，找到消除贫富差距的方法，并努力推行下去，使得中国真正的走向小康社会，达到共同富裕的目标。
