春天的张家界芳草鲜美、落英缤纷，溯金鞭溪，游十里画廊，探黄龙洞，体会武陵人进入桃花源的惊喜；秋天的张家界天高云淡，层林尽染，可游览天子山、袁家界、西海等地欣赏美景，此时也是猕猴桃、蜜橘等水果成熟的时节。相对而言，夏季高温多雨，冬季气候寒冷，舒适度稍逊于春秋。

张家界国际森林保护节
中国湖南张家界国际森林保护节是我国十大自然生态类节庆之一，也是我国目前唯一的以森林保护为主题的节庆活动和公益性盛会。“地球呼唤绿色，人类渴望森林〞是森林保护节永恒的主题，它意在唤起人类对生态环境的重视和对森林资源的珍惜。自1991年以来，中国湖南张家界国际森林保护节受到了社会各界的极大关注，并逐渐成为全球森林保护事业、构建和谐世界的重要交流与合作平台。
