5、师资队伍建设进一步加强。学校加强了对青年教师的培养和引进，教师的年龄结构、职称结构、学历结构、学缘结构不断优化，中青年教师成为教师队伍的主体。现具有正高职称的教师69人，副高职称教师206人，博士、硕士学位的教师分别为51人、357人，省级学科带头人2人，省级学科带头人培养对象3人，湖南省“121人才工程〞人选7人。五年来，学校新增省级科研创新团队1个，省级教学团队3个，省级教学名师1人，省级青年骨干教师和教学能手19人。

科学研究课题的积极性明显提高，承当各级各类科研工程432 项，其中国家自科基金1项、社科基金7项，；获8项国家实用新型创造专利。建成“民族药用植物资源研究与利用〞湖南省重点实验室、“湘西药用植物与民族植物学〞省高校重点实验室，“湖南省民间非物质文化研究基地〞、“湖南省和平文化研究基地〞等2个省级哲学社科研究基地。
7、校园环境进一步优化。校园根底设施建设和改造有序推进，内外环境整治成效显著，校园绿化美化层次进一步提升，师生工作、学习和生活条件有较大改善。
8、社会效劳功能进一步拓展。学校效劳地方的主动性不断增强，校地合作培训人才迈出了新步伐，联合申报科技工程、构建科技平台成效明显，地方民族文化资源的挖掘、利用和保护进展顺利，与麻阳县的战略合作开局良好。
9、办学思路进一步明确。学校内涵开展特别是以加强学科专业建设、推进特色办学的共识不断强化，以实现学生知识能力素质协调开展为目标的人才培养模式改革全面推进，顺应了高等教育形势开展需要。
10、办学影响力进一步扩大。一批优秀学生在省内外产生较大影响，建校50周年庆典活动产生较好的社会反响，学校知名度不断扩大、美誉度明显提升。
