Abstract:In order to ensure the safe and stable operation of large length AC submarine power cable,in addition
to strict control of the overall process of submarine cable and normal maintenance of the line,it is also necessary to
consider the grounding mode of metal sheath and armor in the transmission and distribution line.By comparing the
characteristics of one end grounding of metal sheath,neutral point grounding of metal sheath and three-phase
interconnection grounding at both ends of metal sheath (non grounding in the middle,short-circuit in sections and
semi conductive outer sheath),it is pointed out that the semi conductive outer sheath scheme for three-phase
interconnection grounding at both ends of metal sheath is suitable for large length high-voltage submarine cable.
Combined with the actual line operation case,in view of the prominent heating problem at the landing section of
submarine cable in recent years,it is suggested that both ends of the metal sheath of high-voltage submarine cable
with large length should be grounded and the protector should be added.
