The first semester of freshma
Being a required, significant and basic theory course for undergraduates of all specialities of science and engineering department, the higher mathematics course of higher college aims at fostering sorts of special and competent talents for the socialist modernization drive
of China. After learning the above-mentioned course, our students are able to command the basic concepts, theories and calculation skills of the following subjects:
Function, limit and sequence;
Differential calculus of single variable function;
Integral calculus of single variable function;
Vector algebra and space analytic geometry;
Differential calculus of multi-variable function;

To help them lay a solid and necessary foundation for coming courses and obtaining more mathematic knowledge.
During teaching the course, focus shall be put on training students the ability of abstract thinking, logical reasoning, space imagining and self-teaching etc through various teaching steps; importance shall also
be attached to fostering students ’
capabilities of proficient calculating and of analyzing and solving problems with the knowledge they already learned.
