摘要:由于Google在信息业内和广大用户中巨大的影响力,其数字图书馆计划一经推出就引起了广泛关注。这一计划主要由Google Scholar和Google Print两部分组成,将会对网络信息业、图书馆业、出版业乃至整个人类文明带来重大而深远的影响。

2004年12月14日,Google携手纽约公共图书馆和哈佛大学、斯坦福大学、密歇根大学、牛津大学图书馆启动了数字图书馆计划,将馆藏图书数字化并引领其进入公共阅读领域,引起了全球瞩目 Andrew Albanese Google To Digitize 15 million Books 《Library Journal》2005(1)
。2004年10月11日,OCLC又宣布与Google合作,将其WorldCat中500多万条书目记录公开给Google,使用户可以在Google上直接检索到这些书目数据。为支持该计划,Google还开发了一系列其他服务,例如用来搜索学术文章的Google Scholar,用来搜索离线图书的Google Print,Google广告服务AdSense,Google关键词广告AdWords等服务。尤其是Google Scholar和Google Print,已经涉足到图书馆业务范围,我们就必须加以分析和研究,以采取适当的措施应对。
Google数字图书馆计划
