I. Types of questions in an English class
Questioning strategies are the skills teachers use when they are expecting answers or advice from students. Teachers ask questions to help achieve different teaching aims. So, different kinds of questions are asked according to different teaching goals. It monly accepted that there are four types of classroom questions which are at different difficulty levels.
1. Questions about those facts which are asked to be memorized by students. Lots of information is to be memorized by learners in English classes, including words and expressions, background knowledge of texts or even the text itself especially poems, mon sense about literature and so on. Students are expected to retell the facts when questions are asked. Whatever subject one learns, he has to keep something in mind to help enrich his knowledge storage. Questions about those facts are usually easy ones, when questions are raised, teachers expect to check whether the students have well mastered the basic knowledge. And these questions are of great help to encourage poor students to share answers.
