Introduction of THE KING’S SPEECH
It tells a story about the king e IV happened in England. The King Bertie, acted by Colin Firth, was with a shutter and couldn’t give a speech in public. After the death of his father King e V (Michael Gambon) and the scandalous abdication of King Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), Bertie who has suffered from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly crowned King e VI of England. With his country on the brink of war and in desperate need of a leader, his wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), the future Queen Mother, arranges for her husband to see an eccentric speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).
After a rough start, the two delve into an unorthodox course of treatment and eventually form an unbreakable bond. Based on the true story of King e VI, THE KING'S SPEECH follows the Royal Monarch's quest to find his voice.
Introduction of THE KING’S SPEECH
I think the major themes that the movie furnishes are about responsibility, friendship, the family, persistence and confidence.
About responsibility:
Everyone bears responsibility, we should not lay the blame (推卸给) on others. King e VI hold the responsibility for the country. Even though he is reluctantly(不情愿地)thrust unto the throne(君位),he still found his voice and courageously led his people into the most devastating(毁灭性的) war because of responsibility.
Topic exploration
A faithful friendship is the medicine of life. The Australian speech therapist Logue is the medicine for the King. I was deeply touched by the great friendship between them.
Friendship is rare in the world and equal friendship is more difficult.(世上友谊本罕见,平等友谊更难求——培根)
The words King said to therapist “Waiting for a king to apologize, one can wait rat
