The Eyeball
The eyeball, or the bulb (球状物)of the eye, consists of three layers. The outer layer is the cornea(角膜) and the sclera(巩膜), composed of fibrous tissue. The middle layer includes the choroid(脉络膜), the iris(虹膜), and the ciliary body(睫状体). The innermost layer is the retina(视网膜), where the sight receptors are found.
Accessory Structures
The accessory structures of the eyes include the eyebrows(眉毛), the eyelids(眼睑), the conjunctiva(结膜), and the lacrimal apparatus(泪器).
Mechanism of the Vision
Light entering the eye must be focused on the retina to be perceived by the rods and cones in it. This process involves refraction(折射), modation(调节), and convergence(聚合).
