The train was winding its way. All the other passengers were sleeping soundly, but I didn’t fall asleep at that moment. I wanted to have a look at our West with my own eyes. Looking out of the window, I couldn’t see g____________ for miles. What I saw was ranges of mountains with little or no trees on them. All the mountains were sleeping in a veil (面纱) of silence.
At that time I remembered and really understood a famous writer’s words, “The West of China used to be the beginning of Chinese c__________, but now it is sleeping.” Maybe, we, who live in the East, have never thoughts we will come to the West one day. Maybe, some Easterners look down upon the West and think what it has is only the families’ soiled hands. Easterners have a sense of superiority (优越,傲慢), but do they know if it were not for the soiled hands, there would not have been the richness in the East? If it were not for the deep wrinkles (皱纹) on the westerners’ f___________, there would not have been the comfortable life of the handsome boys and pretty girls in the East. In a way, we can say, the West of China is g________!
For tens of hundreds of years, our m____________ rivers, the Yellow River has been flowing from the West to the East, carrying rich food all the way. As a result, the East is getting more and more beautiful, and the West is becoming poorer and poorer. Now the horn (号角) for developing the West has been b___________. Lots of experts and scholars are entering the West. W________ up, the West of China! Here is the chance for you to develop yourself!
We are sure that a few years later more and more people will come to the West, to develop or to visit it. The West of China will become rich and beautiful sooner or later.

Human beings have lived on this earth for at least two millions years. For most of that time people did not live in towns. Sometimes they used to camp in caves. Sometimes they used to build camps in the forest or on the o___________ ground. These camps were just groups of simple houses that were made of branches and leaves or grass.
Only about thirty people lived in each camp. The men used to go h_________ while the women and children collected food from the trees and other plants around the camp. All the food was s__________ between everyone in the group. Every a few weeks they moved to another place in order to find more food there. It was a simple life, but people were c__________. They had to make everything that they needed, and they had to know a lot about plants and animals. Man’s body and b___________ were formed by this kind of life.
Nowadays a lot of people live in big towns and cities, and they work in offices and factories. Life is a lot easier than it was in the old days. There are fewer dangers, but there is less excitement. Most people do not have to move for food, but they have to stay in one place for most of their lives. They get some excitement from sports and unnatural. A few of them go looking for adventures ---s__________ round the world, climbing mountains, or exploring caves. Most people look forward to the holidays, because then they can enjoy a c__________. A lot of them go camping in the country, or travel by the sea. They try to get back to nature. They try to live as people did thousands of years ago. But they also take a lot of modern luxuries (奢侈) with them. Camping today is very different from camping in the old days.

Many people catch a cold in the spring time and / or fall.  It makes us wonder .if scientists can send a man to the moon, why they can't find a cure for the c
___________ cold? The answer is easy. There are exactly hundreds of kinds of cold viruses there. You never know which one you will get, so there isn't a cure for each one.
When a virus a________ your body, the body works hard to get r_______ of it. Blood rushes to your nose and brings congestion(充血)with it .You feel terrible because you can't b________ well, but your body is actually "eating" the virus. Your temperature rises and you get a f_______, but the heat of your body is killing the virus. You also have a running nose to stop the virus from getting to your cells.  You may feel miserable, but actually your wonderful body is doing e__________ it can to kill the cold.
Different people have different remedies(治疗法)for colds. In the United States and sane other countries, for example, people might eat chicken soup to feel better. Some people take hot baths and drink warm l__________.  Other people take medicine to stop the fever, congestion, and running nose.
There is one interesting thing to note - some scientists say taking medicines when you have a cold is actually bad for you. The virus stays in you longer because your body doesn't have a way to fight it and kill it .Bodies can do an amazing job on their own.  There is a joke, however, on taking medicine when you have a cold. It goes like this:
If it takes about one week to get over a cold if you don't take medicine,  but seven days to get over a cold you take medicine.

Every family that receives a Heifer animal must agree to give that animal's first female baby to other people in need. Families must also agree to pass on the s_______ and training they've received from Heifer International. This concept helps communities become self-supporting.
