Lately, everywhere you look, people are running around with fitness trackers on their wrists.Along with a smartphone and an accompanying app, these trackers can report how many calories you’ve burned and the distance you’ve traveled.Still curious about yourself? You can also learn the number of stairs you’ve climbed and steps you’ve taken, metrics(度量)it had never occurred to me to wonder about.
Not one to resist peer pressure, however,I paid $100 for a Fitbit Flex.I chose that brand on the basis of research:asking my friend Sari which tracker she used.
The Fitbit website offered instructions on setting up my new tracker.I entered my height and gender(性别)and certain information I considered none of its business:birth date and weight. Then I established goals. The American Heart Association recommends we all walk 1 0,000 steps a day—about five miles, and so does Fitbit.I decided 6,000 steps was a good place for me to start.
I changed my tune when,on day one,I hit 6,000 steps and tiny LED lights flashed on my wristband.Confident enough now,I went back to my phone and upped my goal to 8,000 steps.
OK.So I got a little obsessed(着迷).On day five at a department store,I decided to check my progress. My target number was just 275 steps away!I walked around the dress department watching my smartphone register each step I took.I hate to tell you how much pleasure this gave me.
Now I always wear my tracker, not because I've grown to love fitness but because I like being trendy and self-absorbed.Last night I was leaving a restaurant when Fitbit emailed to congratulate me on walking more than 10,000 steps.Who wouldn’t love a tool that turns your

Ifrane is a small town in Morocco, famous for its European style and its similarity to the tourist resorts(胜地)of Switzerland.Developed by the French in the 1930s,Ifrane is fondly referred to as“Africa’s Little Switzerland”.
The history of Ifrane dates back to around 500 B.C.when it was the capital of an ancient Jewish Kingdom. It was called“Oufrane”then, meaning“caves”.It is believed that Jews fleeing from King Nebuchadnezzar found refuge(避难)there, and in later centuries,Arabs and Romans found their way there too.

Ifrane is easily accessible by road, making it a popular tourist destination among locals and international tourists. The town is proud of powdery snow in the winters and cool summers, making it an inviting resort all year round.Free of crime and one of the cleanest cities in Morocco,it serves as the winter playground for the wealthy from the nearby cities. For the people of Morocco, the experience of a European winter is never too far away !

Have you heard of the“Doomsday(世界末曰)clock”?
While the name sounds particular enough to draw our attention, there is no way to actually predict doomsday. The clock is a visual way of representing the dangers our world faces and the urgency to act—with midnight symbolizing doomsday.
The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, the organization that maintains(维护)the clock, decided to keep the clock at 3 minutes to midni—the same as last year.Despite the Iran nuclear deal that weakened the threat(威胁)of nuclear war,the organization continues to worry about the lack of progress on other global issues of concern.
The clock was created nearly 70 years ago by a group of scientists who had worked on the Manhattan project—that created the world’s first atomic bomb. The bombs were dropped on two Japanese cities.Though it brought an end to one of the worst wars in human history, the bombs also exposed the world to the dangers of nuclear technology.
One of the nuclear physicists on the Manhattan project was married to an artist named Martyl Kangsdorf. It was Martyl’s idea to create a clock and set the hand to seven minutes to midnight when it first created.
Since then, the clock has been a powerful way to show humanity how close the world is to catastrophe due to human action. To maintain this clock, every year twenty members of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists gather together and assess the biggest threats to humanity. When scientists looked back at the events of .two significant threats continued to exist—climate change and investment in nuclear weap
