One Sunday morning, there were some people in Zhongshan Park. At a stand, a woman was buying an ice-cream when a young man behind her snatched her handbag away. Hearing the shouting“stop him”, a few people began to run after him. There was an old man sitting quietly on a bench nearby and as the snatcher was running past him, the old man quickly picked up his umbrella and put it between the snatcher’s legs ,so the young man fell down on the ground hard. Soon two policemen came in a police car and arrested him. At last, the woman thanked the old man, and the people around praised the old man for his cleverness.
一个星期日的早晨，有一些人在中山公园。在一个站，一个女人在买冰淇淋时，一个年轻男子背后，她抢走她的手提包走了。听到喊“阻止他”，几个人开始追他。有一个老人静静地坐在长椅上附近的小偷经过他身边时，老人赶紧拿起他的伞，放在这个人的`腿，所以年轻人重重地摔倒在地。很快2个警察来到一辆警车，逮捕了他。最后，女人感谢了老人，而周围的人都称赞他聪明的老人。

B. One, cash：，这是表示在饭馆要付帐的手势。
A. Two, use your brain:用手指点点自己的太阳穴,就表示要动动脑筋。
B. Three, fool:用大拇指按住鼻尖摇动其余四指，或十个手指分开。也常常用食指对着太阳穴转动，同时吐出舌头，表示所谈到的人是个痴呆傻瓜。
A. Four, lying: 讲话时，无意识地将一食指放在鼻子下面或鼻子边时，表示别人一定会理解为讲话人讲的不是真话难以置信。 B. Five, agreement:向上翘起拇指,则表示赞同。
A. Six, congratulation：双手在身前嘴部高度相搓的动作表示对别人的祝贺。

G1; 中国人的传统美德是谦虚谨慎，面对恭维和夸奖应是推辞。如：有人夸您“ Your English is very good.”您的英语讲得真好。”中国人就会说“过奖，过奖，讲得不好。有人夸你“ You are a nice girl.”“你长得真漂亮！”中国人说“哪里，哪里”。
B： I have heard a joke like this. 有一则笑话说，一位外国朋友夸一位女士“ You are really beautiful.” 那位女士非常不好意思说，“哪里， 哪里！” 外国朋友一愣，忙说“ your eyes, your nose and your mouth, are all beautiful.”
G2: If you don’t the western countries’ culture, you maybe make a joke.
是啊，如果你不了解西方国家的风俗文化，说不定就会闹出笑话来呢。
B： What can westerners do? 那么西方人会怎么做呢？
G1; 西方人从来不过分谦虚，对恭维一般表示谢意，表现出一种自强自信的信念。如：“You can speak very good English.”他们会说“Thank you.”“It’s a wonderful dish！” “您做的菜真好吃!”他们会说“I am glad you like it.” 很高兴您喜欢。
B：所以，当说英语的人称赞你时，千万不要回答：“No，I don’t think so.”这种回答在西方人看来是不礼貌的，甚至是虚伪的。随着社会的发展，我们已经越来越能理解中西方国家不同的文化，所以，同学们这种笑话您可别闹啊！
G1: 关于打电话，我们中国人和西方人也是不一样。 Do you know how to make a telephone call to our friends？中时讲话用语没有多少差异。“喂，您好。麻烦您叫一声王伟接电话。”“我是张英，请问您是谁？” 英语中打电话与平时用语差别很大。如：“Hello，this is John speaking.” “May I speak to Tom ,please？” “Is that Mary speaking？” “Who’s that?”
G2: 西方人一接到电话一般都先报自己的号码或者工作单位的名称。如“Hello，xxx，this is Jim.” 我们学生刚开始学英语会犯这样的错误： “Hello，who are you please？”

B: M2M is a band of two young girls. Their name are Marit and Marion. They are from Norway. They are friends when they were five years old.
G1: M2M是一个由两个女孩组成的乐队。他们的名字分别是Marit（玛莉特）, Marion(玛莉安). 由于两人名字都是M开头，所以就叫M2M。 但是现在她们已经单飞，各自发展。
