GENERAL PROVISIONS
General Introduction to the Project
General Introduction
This project consists of constructions of Sino-German Friendship Building, Students’ Canteen and Students’ Apartment in XX Normal University.
(1) The Sino-German Friendship Building is a meters high and four-storey frame-structured construction, whose building area is 31,958 square meters.
(2) The Students’ Canteen is a meters high frame-structured construction of two storeys above the ground and one below the ground, whose building area is 10,081 square meters.
(3) The Students’ Apartment is a meters high six-storey building. Its lower part is frame-structured while its upper part is brick-and-concrete structure. Its building area is 19,603 square meters.
Climate and Hydrologic Condition
(1) Climate
XX locates in eastern part of Henan Province, sharing boundary with other three provinces, namely Shandong Province, Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province. It ranges from 114°49′-116°39′E and 33°43′-34°52′N. It is one part of the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain in North China. It is 30-70 meters above sea level. All the rivers in XX lead to Huaihe River. XX is in the warm-temperate sub-humid continental monsoon climate zone, and therefore, it is warm and windy in spring, hot and rainy in summer, cool and sunny in autumn, and cold and dry in winter. The annual average temperature in XX is between ℃-℃. The extreme lowest temperature is -℃, while the extreme highest temperature is ℃. There are 2200-2500 hours of sunshine and 212 frost-free days in each year in XX. The average annual rainfall can reach - mm.
(2) Hydrologic Condition
The site is in the Yellow River alluvial plain area, and in the warm-temperate monsoon climate zone. The survey and investigation shows that the main supply of the shallow ground water of this area is lateral run-off and rainfall, and its drainage depends on evaporation and lateral run-off.
. Topography and Geology
(1) Topography
The area of the proposed construction is topographically flat. The maximum elevation of each exploration porthole is , and the minimum elevation is -. The maximum relative elevation is .
The site of proposed Sino-German Friendship Building in XX Normal University is in the Yellow River alluvial plain area, belonging to alluvial sediment of Quatemary Holocene River. Floury soil, silty clay and silt-finestone constitute its stratigraphic lithology.

(2) Geology
According to the seismic fortification intensity of China’s main cities and towns set in “Appendix A” in Code for Seismic Design of Building (GB50011-)( edition), XX’s seismic fortification intensity is 6, its seismic classification is in the first group, and its basic seismic acceleration is .
According to Standard for Classification of Seismic Fortification of Building Constructions and considering the importance of the function of the proposed construction, the seismic fortification classification of this construction should be C-class. The basic seismic intensity of the site of this project is 6, and therefore, the earthquake action and earthquake resistant construction should meet the demand of seismic fortification in this area.
. Distribution of Building Material
This depends on the local condition.
Transportation
XX Normal University is in XX city, about 200 km from Zhengzhou city. There is air harbour, railway and high-standard highway in this area. XX locates in the eastern part of Henan Province. Sharing boundary with Shangdong Province, Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province, XX is a city of advantages in transportation.
Contract Items and Scope of Work
(1) The main construction projects in this bid section are prescribed in the provision (Article 1, item 5) of the particular contract. The main construction quantity can be find in Chapter 6 in Rendering Document.
(2) The contractor should carry out, complete and maintain the main construction of the bid section he undertakes in accordance with the rendering drawings, contract terms, technical regulation and the detailed list of construction quantity, and the contractor should be responsible to build some temporary construction.
