Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day.
Thanksgiving Day is an American holiday. It is on the fourth Thursday of each November.
On September 6, 1620, the Mayflower ship(五月花号) taking all the English Pilgrims (清教徒)set sail from England, to the New World. They spent sixty-six days and arrived at America in November. Their life there was very difficult . Half of them died. In the spring of 1621, some Indians(印第安人) came to help. The Indians taught them how to hunt(打猎), to catch fish,and to plant corn, beans, pumpkins and other crops.
It is a time for tradition(传统) and sharing(分享). Everybody gives thanks together for the good things that they have. They usually have turkey, sweet potato, the corn, the pumpkin cake and the jam(果酱) .
