摘要
《简爱》是维多利亚时期最出色的小说之一。在大多数人眼中,简爱是一位叛逆的女性。为了女性的尊严和平等,她像一个无所畏惧的勇士一样抗争着。尽管如此,但如果从另一个角度分析简爱的性格,可以探究出一些矛盾。事实上,简爱也有她脆弱的一面。本文从简爱的叛逆性格,保守性格及这两者之间的关系进行分析。使读者能够拓宽视野,对简爱有一个新的不同认识。同时,本文也对那些正在为性别平等而战的女性朋友们提出建议:即使在女性地位有所改善的现代社会,要赢得真正意义上的平等仍有很长的路要走,因为保守的习俗根深蒂固。在反抗那些压倒性的不合理的习俗时,女性应该更勇敢,更锲而不舍。
第一部分是对小说《简爱》及其作者夏洛特•勃朗特的介绍。第二部分呈现简爱叛逆的性格的表现,包括简爱的自信,独立,以及追求平等。同时分析了这种性格的成因。第三部分围绕简爱的保守性格展开,其表现为自卑,对传统婚姻的膜拜,以及对男性的依附。同时也分析了成因。第四部分集中于简爱的叛逆性格和保守性格之间的关系。他们之间既有矛盾也有统一。第五部分总结本文并得出结论:简爱并不是一个纯粹的叛逆的女性,而是具有双重性格。

Abstract
Jane Eyre is one of the best novels in the Victorian Age. In most people’s eyes, Jane Eyre is a rebellious woman. She fights like a fearless soldier for woman’s equality and dignity. These are all true; however, if studying Jane Eyre’s personalities from a different angle, some contradictions will be explored. In fact, Jane Eyre also has some weak and fragile aspects. Three aspects are analyzed in this paper: Jane Eyre’s rebellious personalities, conservative personalities, and the relation of her dual personalities. Therefore, readers’ horizon can be broadened and they will have a new different understanding of Jane Eyre. At the same time, this paper also gives advice to women who are struggling for gender equality: even in modern society, where women’s status is relatively improved, there is still a long way to go for gaining real equality due to the deep and dominating root of the conservative conventions. When fighting against the irrational but overwhelming conservative conventions, women should be more courageous and perseverant.
This paper consists of five parts. Part One is the introduction of the novel Jane Eyre and the novelist Charlotte Bronte. Part Two manifests Jane Eyre’s rebellious personalities—self-confidence, pursuit of equality and independence. And the causes are analyzed.
