Incentives: A cost or benefit that motivates a decision or action by consumers, businesses, or other participants in the economy
Incentives are things offered to help encourage you to make a decision or action.
There are 2 types of incentives:
1st Incentive:
1.) Positive incentives: make people better off and are called "rewards."
Examples: Money, hugs, stickers, a good grade, are positive incentives.
These are things you want to get.
Can you think of any other positive incentives?
Incentive to winning: the World Series!!
Coupons are incentives to buy the product
2nd Incentive
2.) Negative incentives: make people worse off and are called "penalties."
Examples: Detention, more homework, losing car privileges, and time out are negative incentives.
These are things you do not want to happen.
