Organization
The introduction has THREE sentences:
1. general statement
2. specific statement
3. thesis statement
General Statement
1. gives background knowledge to readers
2. restates the subject in your own words
3. may use proverbs and maxims to attract readers’ attention
Specific Statement
The sentences that connects general statement and thesis statement
Usually introduces the opposite opinion of your own
Thesis Statement
This sentence is the one that introduces the main idea of an essay and two or three supporting reasons
Sample Introduction
Question: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to save your money for the future than to spend it immediately. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion
