商贸汉英翻译的原则探索

摘   要:现有的翻译原则难以适用于商贸汉英翻译,使事关重大的中国商贸翻译经常无章可循。本文通过对商贸汉英翻译事例的分析,率先提出商贸翻译应遵循“忠实、准确、统一”的原则,阐述了这一原则的实质,强调商贸英语的语言特点决定了翻译原则的变异。

Exploring into the Principles of Chinese-English Business Translation

Abstract: Existing principles of translation are rarely applicable to Chinese-English business translation. All too often, therefore, business translation— indispensable to China’s economic development—has hardly any principles to follow. The article takes the lead in addressing this problem. With examples taken from Chinese-English business translations, the author puts forward the view that the major principles of business translation should be“faithfulness, exactness and consistency”. In explicating this point, the author stresses that the special features of business English account for the variability of translation principles.

    在世界经济阔步迈向21世纪的时代,国际商务活动日益频繁。这些商贸活动的许多领域,如,技术引进、对外贸易、招商引资、对外劳务承包与合同、国际金融、涉外保险、国际旅游、海外投资、国际运输等,所使用的英语统称为商贸英语(Business English)。它已成为世界经济活动中必不可少的语言交际工具。可以说商贸英语控制着国际交流,国际交流离不开商贸英语。据统计,全世界16亿以英语为第一语言、第二语言或外语的人群中几乎90%的人每天都在与商贸英语打交道,可见商贸英语的应用十分广泛。
