Acknowledgements
It takes me a lot of time and energy in the translation and the translation report. I really
met many problems, but I also learnt a lot in the process. Meanwhile, a lot of people helped
me, so I would like to gratitude to these people.
Firstly, I’m grateful to my supervisor—Associate Professor Zhang Jinghui, who gave me
a lot of guidance and helped me during the process of translation and the translation report.
She taught me how to analyze the materials and how to write the report. Under her
requirements, I read many translation theory books and papers. She is a strict teacher, who
made me improve my translation skills and keep it high quality. I was impressed by her
excellent professional knowledge and earnest working attitude deeply. I will keep studying
from her in my rest of life.
Secondly, all the teachers who have ever given me ettable lectures in Henan
University also should be thanked. They not only have shown me into he fascinating world of
English Translation, but improved me in research methodology as well.
Finally, I’d like to give my gratitude to my parents who have always been a source of
confidence and inspiration. They offer suggestions whenever I need to make a choice, but
give me full freedom to choose my life.
Abstract
The translation mission is The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg by Mark Twain. The
story happened in a town called Hadleyburg which was very well-known by its honesty. It
mainly tells that a stranger went to Mrs. Richards’ home and left a sack of gold to express his
