Generally,it refers tothearrangement andprocessing such astranslation, compilation,critics differenthistoricalcircumstances, rewriting ismanipulated thisbasis,rewriters rearrange the source text tosome extent SO as to cater forthe current ideologies and poetics and to be accepted nature of translationand thediversitiesbetween Chinese andEnglish determine the existence ofrewriting intheEnglishtranslation ofChinese classics. The study shows that inGiles’Sversion thereisrewriting instructure, titles,relationships,culturalinformation and translator rendered,piled and even criticized thework inorder to introduce the Chinese culture,tradition andcustoms,with therewriting methods ofrestructuring,paraphrase,substitution,omission\addition, explanation andtransliteration. Key Words:Chinese classics;C-Etranslation;rewriting;Liao Zhai Zhi H 摘要本文主要以翟理斯的《聊斋志异》英译本为例,探讨中国典籍英译中的改写问题。改写是指一切有助于构建文学作品或者作者形象的行为,泛指对文学原作进行的翻译、编选专集、评论和编辑等各种加工和调整的过程。在不同的历史条件下,改写受到意识形态和诗学形态两方面因素的限制,藉此改写者对原文进行一定程度上的调整,使其符合当时的意识形态和诗学形态,以便更多更好地被读者接受。翻译的本质和汉英两种语言之间的差异决定了汉语典籍英译中必然存在改写现象。研究发现,翟理斯《聊斋志异》英译本在结构、标题、男女关系、文化信息以及评注方面存在改写现象,译者将作品的翻译、编选、编辑、评论集于一体,以向读者介绍中国的文化、传统及习俗等,其使用的改写方法主要有重构、释义、替代、省略/增补、解释以及音译匈蟹 1卡0 关键词:汉语典籍;汉译英;改写; 《聊斋志异》 Contents Abstract??????????????????????????????????1 摘要
