Step 2 Questions for discussion (15 minutes)
(First the teacher arranges Ss in pairs and asks them to discuss the following questions. Bring Ss’ attention to the Language Focus box in P14 in the textbook and tell them that they can use the sentences and structures in the box in their conversations.)
1. You have learned English for several years. Do you often speak English with your classmates and friends?

- I often speak English with my classmate Li, who is also my best friend. Both of us like English very much and we think the best way to improve our spoke English is by speaking. We practice speaking English at anytime when we are together.
- To be frank, I seldom speak English with others. I find it hard for me to open my mouth to talk with my natives in a foreign language. It is really embarrassing, you know. It would be easy if talking with a foreigner who speaks English. But the possibility is almost zero.
2. Are you afraid of making mistakes?
