庆祝方式
人们在这一天会起得很早，先放爆竹，叫做“开门炮仗”。放完后，碎红满地，灿若云锦，称为“满堂红”。人们也会在门窗上画鸡或贴纸鸡来驱鬼怪邪气。过后，大家会穿上最漂亮的衣服，打扮得整整齐齐，出门去拜访亲戚朋友，互相拜年。
禁忌
这一天不能动用扫帚，否则会扫走运气，而把“扫帚星”引来，惹来霉运。如果一定要扫地，就得从外头扫到里边。这一天也不能往外泼水倒垃圾，怕自己会破财。
