Gift giving in Japan In formal situation they wear kimono 和服 Japanese usually present their gifts on lunar July 15( 中元节 Hungry Ghost Festival ),while chinese usually present their gifts at spring festival and mid autumn festival When Japanese girls get married , at their wedding , their parents or lovers will give them a piece of juunihitoe (十二单) Whereas chinese usually send the bride a pair of gold bracelets Japanese usually send their gifts in odd number when they attend a wedding , they usually give their cash gifts in odd number , for example , 3 thousand but not 2 thousand , because they think the number “2” will result in the loss of affection of the couple
