(CEIR)统计，2000年美国举办了13000个展览会，直接收入约120亿美元，与展览会相关的社会综合消费约1250亿美元，展览会的经济拉动效应为1：10；德国2000年展览会销售收入为45亿马克，创造社会综合价值410亿马克，拉动效应为1：9．1。国际上会展业的产业带动系数为1：9 ，也是目前不少地区提出假设干年后要把本地办成“中国会展中心城市〞、“中国会展名城〞、中国区域会展中心〞以试图将本地整体经济带动起来的“理论依据〞。
通过相关专家的研究，认为与大城市相比，中小城市虽然存在先天优势缺乏的问题，但也有其自身品牌、区位、资源优势，应借鉴国内外大城市开展经验。宁波市政府非常重视会展业的开展，目前已把会展业定为宁波城市开展的战略性产业，为探析宁波会展经济的拉动效应，本次调研以第六届中国国际家居博览会〔因家博会是我市唯一经过UFI认证的品牌展会，具有典型性，调研中发现的问题具有更大的价值〕为对象来研究展会对宁波经济的拉动效应，并试图探究宁波会展业开展中存在的问题，最后为宁波会展业更好开展给出相关的政策建议。
