概述
2022年7月至8月，中国北京举办2022年“城市标志〞概念性设计国际竞赛活动，北京将入选方案中选择并建成北京的城市标志性建筑。同年11月，上海世博会事务协调局官员表示，2022年上海世博会将不以建造任何“标志性建筑〞为目标，而希望把对人类未来深刻的思考作为上海世博会的“遗产〞流传下来。这两件事情引起了社会各界的广泛关注，究其原因，就是触及了城市建设中的一个敏感问题：城市的标志性建筑。
标志性建筑是城市历史文化的积淀，是城市固有的个性风貌的表达，是向外界标志城市独特存在价值的商标和载体，是判断一座城市的识别符号。巴黎埃菲尔铁塔、悉尼歌剧院、埃及金字塔、北京天安门、上海东方明珠，各自城市印象的代表和象征。近20年以来，随着经济的快速开展，我国城市化进程的不断推进，我国现代城市标志性建筑经历了从无到有,从有到多,从多到无序的现状。最新、最高、最现代并非“标志性建筑〞。那些真正的标志性建筑，是因为其作为特定的文化精神的载体而存在，与周围环境能够协调共生，并长久发挥着其效用。随着城市经济、科技和文化的开展，城市标志性建筑必然面临两个方面的矛盾：一方面是业界与社会人士之 间关于标志性建筑在建成使用前的意向与投入运营后实际感受之间的争议;另一方面那么是决策者与收益者之间关于标志性建筑在市场经济环境下,如何合理地分配城市资源,以保障多数人空间上的公共利益之间的分歧。同时，在标志性建筑开展过程中，存在着城市特色的丧失、无视历史传统及文化内涵，保护、更新和开发间开展的不协调性，标准性建筑实现过程中的盲目性等诸多问题。济南武岳庙的消失又表达了标志性历史建筑开发利用中存在的经济和文物保护问题。
