LR Generic List of Material, Components and Equipment Certification HUB Version Date 20110520 1 The intention of this document is pile a list with the types of certification for Materials, Equipment ponents (ME&C) intended to be fitted on board cargo ships. 2 The scope of the document is based on Lloyd ’s Register Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships, MSPM and European Union Directive 96/98/EC (MED certification), from now on referred as "Master Documents". 3 The document is to be used as guidelines and in case of any discrepancies between the present document and the above mentioned Master Documents, the requirements in those will prevail. 4 Discrepancies shall be brought to the attention of the document Owners for correctness. 5 Where the Master Documents do not provide clear instructions about certification requirements for specific Material, Equipment ponents, the present document incorporates the industry present practise in major shipbuilding countries. 6 The document is to be used only for internal guidance and it is not to be distributed outside of LR. 7 However, the content of the document can be used to provide guidance and advice to clients regarding ME&C certification when this is requested. 8 LR - Certificate type marked as LR indicates that the ME&C requires a Lloyds Register certificate issued by Lloyd's Register surveyor in accordance with rules and regulations which may or may not include requirements for the ME&C to have been subject to Type Approval, Type Test or Prototype Test prior to the individual certificate being issued. 9 LRTA - Certificate type marked as LRTA indicates that the ME&C requires a Lloyd ’s Register Type Approval certificate. No individual certification by LR is required but a Maker or Manufacturer declaration confirming that the ME&C has been manufactured in accordance with the LRTA approval may be required. 10 TA - Certificate type marked as TA indicates that the ME&C requires a Type Approval certification is
