图14所示为一均质杆，当它位于水平位置时被无初速度的释放，运动到竖直位置时与A块相撞，受到外碰撞冲量A的作用时，轴与承轴出O同时发生碰撞。为不使轴和承轴产生碰撞冲量，则撞击中心应位于l=I/Ma处
上式中l为转轴O到撞击中心的距离，I为杆对转轴的转动惯量，M为杆的质量，a为杆的质心到O的距离。
设杆竖直的悬挂不动，在杆的侧面上的适当的高度上加一碰撞冲量S，来看转轴O处是否同时产生横向力而发生碰撞。
如图(a)所示，由质心运动定理，
