第一节 基本情况
丹寨县地处贵州省东南部，黔东南州西部，东与雷山县接壤，南靠三都县，西与都匀市、麻江县交界，北抵凯里市。全县辖3镇4乡1个国营农场，，有苗、汉、水、布依等18个民族，少数民族占总人口的87%，其中苗族占总人口的78%，是一个多民族聚居县。
(一)地形地貌：全县方公里，，、，土壤富含人体必需的硒锌等微量元素，盛产优质硒米和硒锌茶叶，被誉为“中国硒米之乡”和“中国硒锌茶叶之乡”。丹寨生态保存完好，森林覆盖率达61%，野生动植物资源丰富，素有“物种基因库”之称，是全国生态项目建设县；海拔在600-1200米之间，属亚热带季风性湿润气候，-℃，冬无严寒，夏无酷暑。
（二）区位优势：丹寨县城距都匀市50公里，距凯里市70公里，距省会贵阳市105公里。厦蓉高速以及在建的凯羊高速均在丹寨县城附近设互通立交，是连接珠三角地区和西南地区快速通道上的重要节点城镇、凯里城市经济圈的“南大门”，有明显的交通区位优势和突出的流通聚集效应。
（三）贫困现状：丹寨县从1992年列为省长联系点以来，至今已列为7任省长的工作联系县。由于思想观念、自然条件、基础设施建设、交通条件、水利设施等原因，加之干部群众“三依赖”思想严重，不善利用省长联系帮扶机会，寻求突破，谋求发展。虽然近几年开展了破除三依赖思想，经济社会取得了长足的发展，但目前，丹寨县仍是国家新阶段592个扶贫开发工作重点县之一,现有重点乡镇6个,%（其中：二类4个，%；三类2个，%）；重点村98个，%（其中：一类35个，%；二类56个，%；三类7个，%）。
