我们参观了华为C&C08电话交换机，该交换机为电路交换机，而现在具备光纤入户条件的用户使用光纤接入是不是用该机的，我们在计算机上运行了电话交换机的管理软件，在该软件上可以看到该局的电话交换机的运行状态和用户数据。我们可以使用各类指令增加用户、删除用户、查询用户状态甚至远程查看其他局的用户状态。该电话交换机内有许多线路板，安装和拔出这些线路板有着严格的操作章程和规范，以免漏电造成人员和设备财产的损失。在安装和拔出电路板之前需要在手腕上佩戴防静电环，防静电环的另一端接地。

回顾我国十余年的网络发展史，从最原始的使用modem和双绞线拨号接入互联网，再到ISDN，最终演进到现在主流的ADSL和FTTH光纤入户接入方式，我们能够占用的互联网带宽资源随着科学技术的不断发展越来越大，传输介质也有最初的铜缆到现在的光纤。而传输介质的改善对于互联网接入而言是本质的改善，光纤有不易受干扰、衰减低的特点，可以实现百公里无中继的远距离传输，与此相比，铜缆线就要逊色许多。现在商业运行的光纤都采用WDM波分复用技术，将上行信号和下行信号的波长区分开，下行信号采用1310nm波长而上行信号则采用1490nm的波长，实现全双工通信。
在现实商业使用中，家中的ONU光网络单元会通过位于居民用户楼道的光分路器进行汇聚，再通过光纤传输到局端的OLT，OLT再通过传输设备将ip包送到NGN软交换单元中。
