PERSONAL STATEMENT
Jia Xin
As an English teacher of the training center at China National Container Corporation, I graduated from the Capital University of Economic and Business in Beijing, China, in 1995. I majored in economic law, a field totally different from what I had planned to study in high school. I remember back to the time when I was in second grade in the primary school, we had to write an essay; the topic was "What Do You Want to Do When You Grow Up?" I proudly wrote, "I want to be a teacher!" But I hold a Bachelor of Law degree. Both of my parents are highly educated. My father holds a . in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University; he is currently working at the Institute of Space Medico-Engineering of China as a researcher. My mother is teaching English at the Agricultural University of China. I chose economic law under the influence of my parents who, as teachers, felt that a career in economics would be more promising for me since teachers are not well paid in China. Thus I spent four years studying in an area they have never tried or understood. But I have found, after four years, that my real interest is in education, not in law.
I enjoyed studying economic law a lot; but teaching attracts me more. After graduating from the Capital University of Economic and Business, I was offered a job by the China National Container Corporation to supervise
