约翰·丹佛(John Denver),美国乡村音乐之父,国际巨星,于1943年生于美国西南部的新墨西哥州,曾经学习建筑专业。John Denver演唱的歌曲大部分都是自己创作的,著名的曲目有《Take Me Home Country Road(乡村路带我回家)》《Rocky Mountain High(高高洛基山)》《Sunshine On My Shoulders(阳光照在我肩上)》《A Wild Heart Looking For Home(浪子心渴望家园)》《Trail Of Tears(泪痕)》以及《African Sunrise(非洲的黎明)》都是美国乡村歌曲与摇滚风格相结合的典范。

20年来,John Denver的创作屡屡不绝,他为美国帆船“星条旗”号获胜作歌,还为中国之行创作了歌曲《Shanghai's Breeze(上海的微风)》。1979年元月,他在华盛顿肯尼迪文化中心为当时访美的邓小平演唱了他的拿手曲目。1997年10月他在一次飞行中不幸坠机遇难。
