Abstract O bjective Multip le gestation obviously take p lace p remature birth rate over single gestation. So the essential
point of this paper was to investigate the incidence, risk factors and development of retinopathy of p rematurity ( ROP) in the
patients with multip le gestational births. M ethods Thirty six multip le gestational p remature infants and 90 single p remature
infants were exam ined with binocular indirect ophthalmoscope for ocular funds. The follow up time was 6 months. Results The
incidence of ROP with multip le gestational birth was 55 6% (20 /36). Among 36 multip le p remature infants with ROP, 4 patients
were classified into stage 1 of ROP, 6 in stage 2, 7 in stage 3 and 3 were in stage 5 of ROP. Seven infants with ROP ( 35% )
fulfilled the criteria of threshold ROP. A ll multip le infants with ROP had lower birth weight ( 1 21 ± 0 36 kg) ( t = 4 012, P <
0 05) , shorter gestation age (30 ± 3 5 weeks) ( t = 2 56, P < 0 05) , longer median time of oxygen supp lementation (18 days) and
