条件状语从句是表示主句动作发生前提或条件从句，即“在......条件下某事才能发生”。通常有连词if或unless引导。

if引导条件状语从句可位于主句之前或之后。位于主句之前要用逗号与主句隔开；位于主句之后，中间无须用逗号。

在含有条件状语从句复合句中，从句时态在一定程度上受到主句时态制约，这在英语语法中为时态呼应。
（1）假如主句是普通未来时，从句必须用普通现在时代替普通未来时。
（2）假如主句含有must，may，can等情态动词，从句须用普通现在时。
