Novel summary
This novel essfully depicts how a woman both of whose appearance and heart are as pure and beautiful as camellias is humiliated to death.
The heroine Marguerite Gautier is a country girl with gorgeous appearence ,coming to Paris to seek a livelihood. However, unfortunately she es a courtesan(妓女). A rich youth, Armand Duval, loves her passionately, thus arouses her longing for love. Nevertheless, Armand's father strongly object to their relationship pels her to leave Armand. Armand doesn't know the truth why she leaves him, so he looks for opportunities to ashame her. Finaly Marguerite dies of both physical and mental suffering.
